The receptionist created rules to scam me. The receptionist (a woman with blond hair) tried to scam me by making up rules at late night. During my stay, my guest came over for a few hours during the day since it was a rainy day. The woman at the reception said, "You are not allowed to bring guests over or you have to pay 100 EUR for that". She was telling lies since she was avoiding eye contact, moving around, picking up stuff, pointing at different objects and mentioning that wasn't her idea to charge me but her colleague. Then she said, "But I will reduce it to 20 EUR and you have to pay now". At the moment I understood it was a scam yet I had to pay to avoid further conflict which would destroy my whole trip. I checked everywhere on the regulations of the hotel and nowhere mentioned that I have to pay for a visit of a guest during the day. This experience is one of the worst experiences, 20 EUR is not that big yet I don't want to run into it, disgusting behaviour and unacceptable. I'd love to mention this to make sure other people don't run into the same issue which would turn off their travel experience. After all, I would NOT recommend this hotel Carlton to anyone who plans to stay here.

I visited Frankfurt with my family recently. We stayed at the Carlton Hotel this was a price based booking. Please don't get me wrong, the hotel was ok for the price, just €45.00 per night and the €7.00 each for breakfast, which was good for the cost. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful, less the night porter who was a bit grumpy. Our room was ok. The bathroom needs a refurb, and there was a long hair in the clean bed. The problem this hotel has is the location. I parked up in.an adjacent street and then saw what was going on. I have been lucky enough to travel the world, but have never seen so many people openly taking drugs in broad daylight, the street was littered with used needles and there were at lesser 50 people smoking crack and other substances everywhere. There were druggies comatose on the floor. After we checked in I moved my car, but for the 3 days we were in the area we had to walk past these people. It's very sad but also worrying. Hotel fine, location bad. Sorry.

Two minutes from the Train Station and you are there, with a Supermarket opposite and a wide range of Restaurants a couple of streets away, the location couldn't be better. The staff at reception were so genuinely friendly, and not in a bland " have a nice day" way either. The breakfasts were great value at 7 Euro but most importantly of all, the room was quiet. The local homeless people were not intimidating in any way and I never felt threatened. I would definitely stay here again.

No airco, bad WiFi, drilling in the morning

Such a bad hotel. The airco was a plug in fan that only blew warm air in the room. In the morning we woke up sweaty from the noise because somewhere in the hotel someone was drilling a wall. The tv was crap because most of the channels did not work. The WiFi was to weak to stream something. And the parking for 15 Euros wasnt available.

Carlton Hotel is a 50+ Boutique Hotel assessible by train from the airport (excellent directions are on the hotel website) and 200 meters from the Frankfurt Main Train Station. There is a supermarket and many restaurants nearby (no German ones). The hotel is near a red light district and there are many beggars nearby so it isn't really suitable for families. Check in was fast, friendly and efficient. The lobby is small with a small lift. The rooms are tiny (12sqm), barely enough for a large suitcase. The room is air conditioned, has a minibar, a flat screen TV but no safe (limited number of safes are at the reception). The bed is small and ok. Logging into their free internet can be tricky but the front desk will help you. Once logged in, it is reliable. Breakfast is served from 7-10 in the restaurant (only serves breakfast). It has a descent selection of cheeses, cold cuts bread, pastries, fresh juices and fruit. Scrambled eggs ( eggs to order isn't available) and pancakes are also served. Again, service is friendly and efficient. What makes this hotel special (definitely not the tiny rooms ) is the front desk staff. They are all proficient in English and are extremely helpful and friendly. They truly make you welcomed. All in all it was a pleasant stay. If you want a convenient hotel (and don't mind that a red light area and a few beggars are nearby but the neighborhood seemed safe) with tiny rooms but an awesome staff then Carlton Hotel might be a good choice.
